Tokyo Olympics: Judoka Sonia Bhatt loses first game


Kathmandu. Nepali judo player Sonia Bhatt has lost her first match in Tokyo Olympics-2020.

In the women's 48 kg weight category of the Round of 32 on the second day of the Olympics on Saturday morning, Sonia lost to Russian Irina Dolgova.

Sonia lost to Irina, who is ranked ninth in the world, based on Ippon. Sonia lasted only 1 minute 16 seconds.

If Irina makes it to the finals, Sonia will be able to compete again through the rematch.

Sonia, 19, has been selected for the Olympics through a wild card.

Sonia had won bronze in the women's under 48 kg category at the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal in 2076 BS. He is the first Nepali player to win about in the World Judo Championship.

Irina is competing under the auspices of the Russian Olympic Committee as Russia is banned for doping.
