Floods in China: 12 dead, more than 100,000 evacuated

Kathmandu. At least 12 people have been killed in floods in central China after incessant rains. According to international media reports, more than a million people have been evacuated due to the floods. The floods affected more than a dozen cities, including Zhengzhou, the capital of China's Henan province.

Some of the videos that have been made public show the streets and train stations of the Chinese city being flooded to the point of water reaching people's chests. Chinese President Xi Jinping said flood control was "very weak."

Jinping said the floods had caused great loss of life and property. He directed all bodies to give priority to the protection of human life and property. Local officials say this is the biggest flood of the century.

The water level in some dams and reservoirs in China has reached dangerous levels. Troops are now mobilized to rescue the people. The floods affected air and rail services in many parts of Henan.
